| Membership in the Association shall be granted upon the payment of dues. To access a membership form, click on "FORMS" in the upper menu bar.
Membership in the Association shall be designated as Active, Associate, Honorary, Student and Retired. Retired membership may be extended to professionals in health education, physical education, recreation and dance education and were members of the Association for a minimum of ten (10) years. Retired members will be recognized upon written request for the retired status. Retired members will not pay membership dues but will pay registration charges to any event that they attend. Retired members may vote and hold office. Active membership shall be professional employees of a public or private agency whose primary purpose is to promote health education, physical education, recreation and dance education. Associate membership in the Association may be extended to persons not professionally engaged in health education, physical education, recreation and dance education, but who are interested in the support of these programs. Honorary membership may be extended to persons who are deemed worthy of this distinction. Individuals must be recognized by the Executive Committee and confirmed by the membership. Honorary members may not vote or hold office. Institutional membership is available to any K-12 school. With Institutional Membership, the entire school staff of professionals within the areas of health, physical education, athletics, and dance can become MAHPERD members for a reduced rate. Institutional members will have the same benefits of a regular professional member with the exception that only one Journal will be sent to the school. For schools with three or more staff members, the Institutional Membership will be a cost savings. Student membership shall be granted to undergraduates or full-time graduate students preparing for health education, physical education, recreation and dance education careers. Student members may vote and hold office.
